Selected Topics in Molecular Biology and Biological Chemistry

This is the study programme for 2020/2021.


The course gives phd-students an opportunity to gain a deeper insight and knowledge of the research areas of the department and their own field of research.

Learning outcome

  • Good knowledge of the Department's research within areas as molecular biology, bio medicine, microbiology, plant physiology, bio informatics and proteomic; in addition to the major work techniques related to the areas.
  • Detailed knowledge of structure and function of the cell and cell components, including enzymatic processes, transport-, regulation-, defense- and repair- mechanisms.
  • Be able to present results from own and others research in front of an audience.

Contents

Researchers present different topics from their research. Topics covered are: DNA repair, advanced enzyme chemistry/kinetics, signal transduction mechanisms, post-translational regulation mechanisms, chloroplast development, biological rhythms and adaptation mechanisms/homeostasis. Dependent on the candidates' planned PhD work other subjects may also be relevant.

Required prerequisite knowledge

Master in Biological Chemistry or equivalent.
