An open publication archive is an archive on the Internet where one can make own publications freely available to the general public. All rights still belong to the author, but the author agrees that the publication can be read, printed, quoted, spread, and be used freely without a fee. Several educational and research institutions today have their own open publication archives, called institutional archives.
Norwegian and international publication archives
Everything published in open publication archives in Norway is collected in Nora.
Open publication archives are making a major impact, and there are now more than 2,600 archives around the world. The Directory of Open Access Repositories (OpenDOAR) is attempting to keep an overview. In this database you can search for archives in specific countries and languages, or limit the search to a specific subject, if you for example are looking for archives only containing documents about biology.
