Why attend a writing session? In this session, we focus on evaluating and citing sources, developing a good research statement and structure. You will also receive advice on how to keep the writing process going and strategies you can use to express your argument in a way that engages the reader.

After attending the session, you should:
- Understand how to structure your thesis (e.g., IMRaD model)
- Be able to develop a good research statement
- Understand how to create correctly formatted in-text citations and reference lists
- Know how to develop strong arguments
- Understand that research/knowledge builds on the work others have done
- Know how to use various strategies to get started with your writing and to keep it flowing (i.e., how to avoid writer’s block)
- Be aware of what resources and services the library offers as well as relevant internet resources
