Search for the materials you want to borrow in Oria, find it in the library and use our self-service machine to borrow. Use Oria to request books that are not available in the library, and you will be notified when the books are ready to be collected from our pick up shelf in the library.

Order materials that we don’t have access to in Oria, and we will request it from other libraries.
However, many libraries are still closed, so there might be limitations to what we can provide.
Because of the corona situation requests may take longer to process.

You can return books during our opening hours. Use the reurnbox by the entrance of KE-house, if you don't want to enter the library.
We are sending out reminders for overdue loans, but we are still not charging overdue fines.
Contact us at if you are having issues with returning borrowed materials.

Only 50 reading areas are available and they must be reserved to use.
Go here to book reading areas. Use Feide to log in.

Please follow the guidelines from NIPH to prevent infection when you are using the library.

Open Access to E-books and Online Resources

More and more publishers are opening up their online resources for a limited time. Click here for an overview of available e-resources.

Search Oria to see what we have online access to, such as e-books and scientific journals.
We are continuously updating our e-collection and new e-books are added frequently.

Remote access to online resources

We recommend using Lean Library for easy access to our online resources.
Use the browser plugin Library Access from Lean Library to access the librarys' digital resources off campus. Lean Library gives you access to our collection of electronic books, articles and databases wherever you are.

How to get started:

  • Go to
  • Download and install the plugin
  • Choose University of Stavanger as institution
  • Do not tick of Skip the popup and automat my access, this allows you to choose on which sites you want to use your UiS access.

The service does not work in Internet Explorer, or on mobile phones and tablets.

You can also use remote access to gain access to online resources from home. Click here to read more.
A lot of people are using this service at the moment, so if you are experiencing issues try switching your browser. We recommend using Firefox or Chrome. Contact IT if you are having technical issues with remote access.
