A Excellent: An outstanding performance that clearly excels. The candidate demonstrates excellent judgement and a high degree of independent thinking.
B Very good: A very good performance. The candidate demonstrates sound judgement and a very good degree of independent thinking.
C Good: A good performance that is satisfactory in most areas. The candidate demonstrates a reasonable degree of judgement and independent thinking in the most important areas.
D Satisfactory: An acceptable performance but with significant shortcomings. The candidate demonstrates a certain degree of judgement and independent thinking.
E Sufficient: The performance satisfies the minimum requirements, but no more. The candidate demonstrates a limited degree of judgement and independent thinking.
F Fail: The performance does not satisfy the minimum academic requirements. The candidate demonstrates an absence of judgement and independent thinking.
The grading scale used is absolute. This means that the assessments are based on criteria.
Grades for courses are allocated according to a percentage, and are shown on grade transcripts using the A–F scale. Fails are not included in the grade allocation. All the results from the five preceding years count towards the grading. Grading is also shown for courses that have been active for less than five years. A minimum of 10 approved results during that period are required for grading.
