Approval/recognition of courses in your individual education plan

Once you have been granted admission to a study programme at the University of Stavanger, you may apply for courses you have taken at other educational establishments to be approved/registered on your individual education plan.

1. Complete the form Change of individual education plan – approval of courses.

Attach certified copies of diplomas/grade transcripts and course descriptions, including reading lists. Send all this to the University of Stavanger, NO-4036 Stavanger, Norway, or by e-mail:post@uis.no. Applications that are insufficiently documented will not be processed.

2. Approve your individual education plan on StudentWeb. If your courses have been recognised, the administrative staff will have amended your individual education plan.

3. If your courses have been recognised, it may be a good idea to notify the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen) that you will be generating fewer credits than usual. The university automatically sends a notification to the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen) about the number of credits you have taken per semester.

Applications for approval/recognition are processed from the end of August onwards. You will receive written notification of the outcome of your application from the department.

For more information about the approval of courses, see Regulations relating to examinations at the University of Stavanger of 7 March 2013, particularly sections 18 and 19.
