Tableau is a software that allows you to import and analyze data sets, either your own or others that are available. You can use Tableau to visualize your data in many different ways, from scatter plots and bar diagrams to geographical information in maps. You can also design interactive dashboards that can be published online, these provide the reader with the opportunity to choose what information he/she would like to highlight. We use the workshop to get to know our data set and the software and then we design our own dashboards. You can read more about Tableau here: https://www.tableau.com/
Tableau offers free software to students, and staff at universities and colleges that will use Tableau in their teaching. You can request this by filling out one of the two forms below:
It may be a few days from the request is sent until you receive a lisence, if you do not receive it in time for the workshop you can download a free trial version. If you are a staff member and not planning to use Tableau in your teaching you may download the trial version.
Remember to install Tableau before attending the workshop. If you have any problems installing the software, please contact one of the Tableau instructors (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com) before the workshop, or meet early the day of the workshop so we can help you.
The workshop is made for the PC version of Tableau, we will not show the version for Mac. It will still be possible to attend the workshop as a Mac user.
