Christmas in Stavanger

Are you spending the holidays in Stavanger? Here are a few suggestions on what to do.

Christmas lights in Stavanger

Traditional Christmas dinner

On Christmas Eve from 18.00 to 22.00 the organisation Kirkens Bymisjon is hosting a classical Norwegian Christmas dinner, open for everyone. The dinner will be at Clarion Hotel Stavanger, Arne Rettedalsgate 14.

Entrance is free, and no booking is required - but they ask that larger groups email karen.wolden@bymisjon.net  in advance.  More details in Norwegian here.

The University library

The library is open 24/7 as usual, and we do have service hours as well. More details here.

Sølvberget

The library, cinema and cafes at Sølvberget are open most days during Christmas. Here you'll find the opening hours (in Norwegian) and here you'll find what's on at the cinema.

Concerts

Stavanger has a varied music scene - also during the holidays. Can we tempt you with Wunderkammer, a Leemmy tribute or perhaps karaoke? Check out the programmes at Checkpoint Charlie, Cementen, Alf & Werner and Martinique.

Sunday waffles

The café Bøker og Børst is open both Dec 24. and 31. from 10.00-16.00, and serving waffles. They are also open Dec 25. from 16.00-02.00 (but no waffles then). More information here.
