University of Stavanger co-operates with universities throughout the world, and you can study abroad for a period of three months up to one year. However, most international masterdegree students are recommended to study for one full semester.

Improve your language skills
An increasing number of employers value good language skills. You can improve your English or other foreign language skills
Studying abroad gives you the opportunity to specialise in different courses from those available to you in Norway. Also, your lecturers and fellow students will help expand your academic horizons, giving you new perspectives that will be useful to you and to future employers when you return.
More career opportunities
Companies are increasingly looking for international skills, and a period of study abroad will make your CV stand out . If you are aiming for an international career, it will be advantageous to have had some of your education outside Norway.
As an exchange student, you will meet new people and gain an increased understanding of and insight into other cultures and lifestyles. You will become more independent while gaining unique life experience!
Good grant schemes
Studying abroad is an enriching investment, and granted that you are eligible, you can apply to the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund for an extra loan or grant for your stay abroad. Students who go on an exchange in the Nordic countries or Europe will get a separate supplementary grant and are exempted to pay for tuition fees

Where and when can you go?
All study programmes have their universities and semesters that are recommended for you. Read more about your opportunities in the menu on the left. Please note that you are NOT eligible to go on an exchange semester AFTER you have finished your study programme with the University of Stavanger. Also, you can not go abroad to take up courses to improve grades.
